Thenthesecockneys,insteadofstartingataneasypace,asagentlemanwoulddo,generallysetoffatfullspeedfromtheverystable-yard;andwhentheywanttostop,theyfirstwhipus,andthenpullupsosuddenlythatwearenearlythrownonourhaunches,andourmouthsjaggedwiththebit—theycallthatpullingupwithadash;andwhentheyturnacornertheydoitassharplyasiftherewerenorightsideorwrongsideoftheroad.
