           Thedinnerpassedoffsafely.Flamel,alwaysathisbestinAlexa’spresence,gaveherthekindofattentionwhichislikeabeaconinglightthrownonthespeaker’swords:hisanswersseemedtobringoutalatentsignificanceinherphrases,asthesculptordrawshisstatuefromtheblock.
