           LadyBertramrepeatedenoughofthisconversationtoherhusbandtoconvincehimhowmuchhehadmistakenhissister-in-law’sviews;andshewasfromthatmomentperfectlysafefromallexpectation,ortheslightestallusiontoitfromhim.Hecouldnotbutwonderatherrefusingtodoanythingforaniecewhomshehadbeensoforwardtoadopt;but,asshetookearlycaretomakehim,aswellasLadyBertram,understandthatwhatevershepossessedwasdesignedfortheirfamily,hesoongrewreconciledtoadistinctionwhich,atthesametimethatitwasadvantageousandcomplimentarytothem,wouldenablehimbettertoprovideforFannyhimself.

           Fannysoonlearnthowunnecessaryhadbeenherfearsofaremoval;andherspontaneous,untaughtfelicityonthediscovery,conveyedsomeconsolationtoEdmundforhisdisappointmentinwhathehadexpectedtobesoessentiallyserviceabletoher.Mrs.NorristookpossessionoftheWhiteHouse,theGrantsarrivedattheParsonage,andtheseeventsover,everythingatMansfieldwentonforsometimeasusual.

           TheGrantsshowingadispositiontobefriendlyandsociable,gavegreatsatisfactioninthemainamongtheirnewacquaintance.Theyhadtheirfaults,andMrs.Norrissoonfoundthemout.
