           Itwasalongsiege.Neartothebeginning,wegatheredtogetherthewomen,andelders,andchildrenwehadnotslain,andforcedthemoutthroughthewalltheyhadbuilded.ButtheSnub-Nosesslewthemtothelastone,sothattherewasmorefoodinthevillageforus,morefoodinthevalleyfortheSnub-Noses.

           Itwasawearylongsiege.Sicknesssmoteus,andwediedoftheplaguethatarosefromourburiedones.Weemptiedthemud-granariesoftheirriceandmillet.
