           Iwaschagrined,andthenIinsistedstoutlywithmyselfthat,asitwasnotMary,itmustbeMary’sjacket.Ihadneverseenherwearsuchajacket,mindyou,yetIwasconfident,Ican’ttellwhy.Doclothesabsorbalittleofthecharacteroftheirwearer,sothatIrecognisedthisjacketbyacertaincoquetry?Ifshehasawaywithherskirtsthatalwaysadvertisesmeofherpresence,quitepossiblysheisascunningwithjackets.Orperhapssheisherownseamstress,andputsinlittletucksofherself.
