           Somehowthismadeheruneasy.“Ithinkyouarespeakingmorelikeabirdthanaboynow,”shesaid,holdingback,andindeedhewasevenlookingratherlikeabird.“Afterall,”shesaid,“youareonlyaBetwixt-and-Between.”Butithurthimsomuchthatsheimmediatelyadded,“Itmustbeadeliciousthingtobe.”

           “Comeandbeonethen,dearMaimie,”heimploredher,andtheysetofffortheboat,foritwasnowverynearOpen-Gatetime.“Andyouarenotabitlikeanest,”hewhisperedtopleaseher.
