           Tesshadgonebacktotheinnerparlour,andsatdownbythefire,lookingwistfullyintoit.SheheardJonathanKail’sheavyfootstepsupanddownthestairstillhehaddoneplacingtheluggage,andheardhimexpresshisthanksforthealeherhusbandtookouttohim,andforthegratuityhereceived.Jonathan’sfootstepsthendiedfromthedoor,andhiscartcreakedaway.
