AstheywalkedalongthehillsideAngel’sformerfeelingrevivedinhim—thatwhatevertheiradvantagesbycomparisonwithhimself,neithersaworsetforthlifeasitreallywaslived.Perhaps,aswithmanymen,theiropportunitiesofobservationwerenotsogoodastheiropportunitiesofexpression.Neitherhadanadequateconceptionofthecomplicatedforcesatworkoutsidethesmoothandgentlecurrentinwhichtheyandtheirassociatesfloated.Neithersawthedifferencebetweenlocaltruthanduniversaltruth;thatwhattheinnerworldsaidintheirclericalandacademichearingwasquiteadifferentthingfromwhattheouterworldwasthinking.
