           IthoughtIwouldfarratherbewhereIamthaninanyhighfamilyintheland. Mr.OliverspokeofMr.RiversoftheRiversfamilywithgreatrespect. Hesaiditwasaveryoldnameinthatneighbourhood;thattheancestorsofthehousewerewealthy;thatallMortonhadoncebelongedtothem;thatevennowheconsideredtherepresentativeofthathousemight,ifheliked,makeanalliancewiththebest. Heaccounteditapitythatsofineandtalentedayoungmanshouldhaveformedthedesignofgoingoutasamissionary;itwasquitethrowingavaluablelifeaway.
