"Isthatso?"saidthelittleprince, whodidnotunderstandwhatthevainmanwastalkingabout.
"Clapyourhands,"directedtheman.
Thelittleprinceclappedhishands, andthevainmantippedhishatinmodestacknowledgment.
"Thisismoreentertainingthanthevisittotheking,"thelittleprincesaidtohimself. Andhecontinuedclapping. Theveryvainmancontinuedtippinghishatinacknowledgment.
Afterfiveminutesofthisexercise,thelittleprincetiredofthegame’smonotony. "Andwhatwouldmakethehatfalloff?"heasked.
Butthevainmandidnothearhim. Vainmenneverhearanythingbutpraise.
