           "Overallthat?"askedthelittleprince. 

           "Overallthat..."thekinganswered. 

           Fornotonlywasheanabsolutemonarch, butauniversalmonarchaswell. 

           "Anddothestarsobeyyou?" 

           "Ofcourse,"thekingreplied. "Theyobeyimmediately. Itoleratenoinsubordination." 

           Suchpoweramazedthelittleprince. Ifhehadwieldedithimself, hecouldhavewatchednotforty-fourbutseventy-two, orevenahundred,eventwohundredsunsetsonthesamedaywithouteverhavingtomovehischair! Andsincehewasfeelingrathersadonaccountofrememberinghisownlittleplanet, whichhehadforsaken,heventuredtoaskafavoroftheking: 

           "I’dliketoseeasunset... Domeafavor,yourmajesty...Commandthesuntoset..." 

           "IfIcommandedageneraltoflyfromoneflowertothenextlikeabutterfly, ortowriteatragedy, ortoturnintoaseagull,andifthegeneraldidnotcarryoutmycommand, whichofuswouldbeinthewrong,thegeneralorme?" 

           "Youwouldbe," saidthelittleprince,quitefirmly. "Exactly.Onemustcommandfromeachwhateachcanperform,"thekingwenton. "Authorityisbasedfirstofalluponreason. Ifyoucommandyoursubjectstojumpintheocean,therewillbearevolution. Iamentitledtocommandobediencebecausemyordersarereasonable." 

           "Thenmysunset?"insistedthelittleprince, whoneverletgoofaquestiononcehehadaskedit.
