           ‘Werygood,’rejoinedSam.‘Then,that’sthewerybestreasonwyyoushouldalvayshavesomebodybyyouasunderstandsyou,tokeepyouupandmakeyoucomfortable.Ifyouvantamorepolishedsorto’feller,vellandgood,havehim;butvagesornovages,noticeornonotice,boardornoboard,lodgin’ornolodgin’,SamVeller,asyoutookfromtheoldinnintheBorough,sticksbyyou,comewhatmay;andletev’rythin’andev’rybodydotheirweryfiercest,nothin’shalleverperwentit!’

           Atthecloseofthisdeclaration,whichSammadewithgreatemotion,theelderMr.Wellerrosefromhischair,and,forgettingallconsiderationsoftime,place,orpropriety,wavedhishatabovehishead,andgavethreevehementcheers.
