Hisfacewasroundandplump;hisnosesmall,notflatlikethenegroes; averygoodmouth,thinlips,andhisfineteethwellset,andwhiteasivory.
Afterhehadslumbered,ratherthanslept,abouthalfanhour,hewakedagain,andcomesoutofthecavetome,forIhadbeenmilkingmygoats,whichIhadintheenclosurejustby. Whenheespiedme,hecamerunningtome,layinghimselfdownagainupontheground,withallthepossiblesignsofanhumble,thankfuldisposition,makingasmanyanticgesturestoshowit. Atlasthelayshisheadflatupontheground,closetomyfoot,andsetsmyotherfootuponhishead,ashehaddonebefore,andafterthismadeallthesignstomeofsubjection,servitude,andsubmissionimaginable,toletmeknowhowhewouldservemeaslongashelived. Iunderstoodhiminmanythings,andlethimknowIwasverywellpleasedwithhim. InalittletimeIbegantospeaktohim,andteachhimtospeaktome; and,first,ImadehimknowhisnameshouldbeFriday,whichwasthedayIsavedhislife.
