ThetremblingChancelloranswered—
"GoodyourMajesty,Icryyoumercy!IbutwaitedfortheSeal."
"Man,hastlostthywits?ThesmallSealwhichaforetimeIwaswonttotakewithmeabroadliethinmytreasury.And,sincetheGreatSealhathflownaway,shallnotitsuffice?Hastlostthywits?Begone!Andharkye—comenomoretillthoudobringhishead."
ThepoorChancellorwasnotlonginremovinghimselffromthisdangerousvicinity;nordidthecommissionwastetimeingivingtheroyalassenttotheworkoftheslavishParliament,andappointingthemorrowforthebeheadingofthepremierpeerofEngland,thelucklessDukeofNorfolk.
