Thewomanwentoffcrying:Hendonslippedbackintothecourtroom,andtheconstablepresentlyfollowed,afterhidinghisprizeinsomeconvenientplace.Thejusticewroteawhilelonger,thenreadtheKingawiseandkindlylecture,andsentencedhimtoashortimprisonmentinthecommonjail,tobefollowedbyapublicflogging.TheastoundedKingopenedhismouth,andwasprobablygoingtoorderthegoodjudgetobebeheadedonthespot;buthecaughtawarningsignfromHendon,andsucceededinclosinghismouthagainbeforehelostanythingoutofit
