EvenBaloo,halfsmotheredunderthemonkeysontheedgeoftheterrace,couldnothelpchucklingasheheardtheBlackPantheraskingforhelp.
Kaahadonlyjustworkedhiswayoverthewestwall,landingwithawrenchthatdislodgedacopingstoneintotheditch. Hehadnointentionoflosinganyadvantageoftheground,andcoiledanduncoiledhimselfonceortwice,tobesurethateveryfootofhislongbodywasinworkingorder. AllthatwhilethefightwithBaloowenton,andthemonkeysyelledinthetankroundBagheera,andMangtheBat,flyingtoandfro,carriedthenewsofthegreatbattleoverthejungle,tillevenHathitheWildElephanttrumpeted,and,faraway,scatteredbandsoftheMonkey-Folkwokeandcameleapingalongthetree-roadstohelptheircomradesintheColdLairs,andthenoiseofthefightrousedallthedaybirdsformilesround. ThenKaacamestraight,quickly,andanxioustokill. Thefightingstrengthofapythonisinthedrivingblowofhisheadbackedbyallthestrengthandweightofhisbody.
