Thebigparadeofallthethirtythousandmenwasheldthatafternoon,andVixenandIhadagoodplaceclosetotheViceroyandtheAmirofAfghanistan,withhigh,bigblackhatofastrakhanwoolandthegreatdiamondstarinthecenter.Thefirstpartofthereviewwasallsunshine,andtheregimentswentbyinwaveuponwaveoflegsallmovingtogether,andgunsallinaline,tilloureyesgrewdizzy.Thenthecavalrycameup,tothebeautifulcavalrycanterof"BonnieDundee,"andVixencockedherearwhereshesatonthedog-cart.ThesecondsquadronoftheLancersshotby,andtherewasthetroop-horse,withhistaillikespunsilk,hisheadpulledintohisbreast,oneearforwardandoneback,settingthetimeforallhissquadron,hislegsgoingassmoothlyaswaltzmusic.Thenthebiggunscameby,andIsawTwoTailsandtwootherelephantsharnessedinlinetoaforty-poundersiegegun,whiletwentyyokeofoxenwalkedbehind.
