           “Youknow,captain,Iamdisposed,and,indeed,desiroustocontributetotheexpensesoftheexpedition.Willyoukindlyconsidermeasyourpartner?”

           “Allthatshallbearranged,Mr.Jeorling,andIamverygratefultoyou.Themainpointistocompleteourarmamentwiththeleastpossibledelay.Wemustbereadytoclearoutinaweek.”

           ThenewsthattheschoonerwasboundfortheAntarcticseashadproducedsomesensationintheFalklands,atPortEgmont,andintheportsofLaSoledad.Atthatseasonanumberofunoccupiedsailorswerethere,awaitingthepassingofthewhaling-shipstooffertheirservices,forwhichtheywereverywellpaidingeneral.
