EvenwhiletheKingwasstillyellingforhelphisthroneroombecameemptiedofeveryoneofhiswarriors,andbeforethemonarchhadmanagedtocleartheeggawayfromhislefteyetheScarecrowthrewthesecondeggagainsthisrighteye,whereitsmashedandblindedhimentirely.TheKingwasunabletofleebecausehecouldnotseewhichwaytorun;sohestoodstillandhowledandshoutedandscreamedinabjectfear.
Whilethiswasgoingon,BillinaflewovertoDorothy,andperchingherselfupontheLion’sbackthehenwhisperedeagerlytothegirl:
