Hesoonbobbedup,andtheshaggymanseizedhimbyhissailorcollaranddraggedhimtotheshore,drippingandgaspingforbreath.Theyalllookedupontheboywonderingly,forthefoxheadwithitssharpnoseandpointedearswasgone,andinitsplaceappearedthechubbyroundfaceandblueeyesandprettycurlsthathadbelongedtoButton-BrightbeforeKingDoxofFoxvilletransformedhim.
"Oh,whatadarling!"criedPolly,andwouldhavehuggedthelittleonehadhenotbeensowet.
Theirjoyfulexclamationsmadethechildrubthewateroutofhiseyesandlookathisfriendsquestioningly.
"You’reallrightnow,dear,"saidDorothy."Comeandlookatyourself."Sheledhimtothepool,andalthoughtherewerestillafewripplesonthesurfaceofthewaterhecouldseehisreflectionplainly.
