Afterawhile,theycametotheplacewherefiveroadsbranchedindifferentdirections;Dorothypointedtoone,andsaid:
"That’sit,ShaggyMan."
"I’mmuchobliged,miss,"hesaid,andstartedalonganotherroad.

Hestopped.
"IthoughtyousaidthatotherwastheroadtoButterfield,"saidhe,runninghisfingersthroughhisshaggywhiskersinapuzzledway.
"Soitis."
"ButIdon’twanttogotoButterfield,miss."
"Youdon’t?"
"Ofcoursenot.Iwantedyoutoshowmetheroad,soIshouldn’tgotherebymistake."
"Oh!WhereDOyouwanttogo,then?"
