Iclungtoherwithbotharmsandheldhertight.IunderstoodnowwhytheyhadtalkedaboutTheFear.Thesetwowhowerealmostonesoulweretryingtobelievethattheywerenotreallytobetornapart—notreally.Theyweretryingtoheapupforthemselvesproofthattheymightstillbeneareachother.And,aboveall,hiseffortwastosaveherfromtheworst,worstwoe.AndIunderstood,too,whysomethingwiserandstrongerthanmyselfhadledmetotellthedreamwhichwasnotadreamatall.
Butitwasasshesaid;theworldhadnotlearnedtheSecretyet.Andtherewestood.Wedidnotcryortalk,butweclungtoeachother—weCLUNG.ThatisallhumancreaturescandountiltheSecretisknown.Andasweclungthenightingalebrokeoutagain.
“Onightingale!Onightingale!”shesaidinherlowwonderofavoice.“WHATareyoutryingtotellus!”
