           Thisemboldenedme,and,besides,Iwasnowasangryashe,andhadlostallfear.Irippedfragmentofrockfromthewall.Thepiecemusthaveweighedtwoorthreepounds.WithmystrengthIslammeditfullintoRed-Eye’sface.Itnearlyfinishedhim.Hestaggeredbackward,droppinghisstick,andalmostfelloffthecliff.

           Hewasaferocioussight.Hisfacewascoveredwithblood,andhewassnarlingandgnashinghisfangslikeawildboar.Hewipedthebloodfromhiseyes,caughtsightofme,androaredwithfury.Hisstickwasgone,sohebeganrippingoutchunksofcrumblingrockandthrowingtheminatme.Thissuppliedmewithammunition.Igavehimasgoodashesent,andbetter;forhepresentedagoodtarget,whilehecaughtonlyglimpsesofmeasIsnuggledagainsttheside-wall.
