           Thosememorabledaysthatmoveinprocession,theirheadsjustoutofthemistofyearslongdead—themostofthemarefull-eyedasthedandelionthatfromdawntoshadehassteepeditselfinsunlight.Hereandthereintheirranks,however,movesaforlornonewhoisblind—blindinthesenseofthedulledwindow-paneonwhichthepeltingraindropshavemingledandrundown,obscuringsunshineandthecirclingbirds,happyfields,andstoriedgarden;blindwiththespatterofamiseryuncomprehended,unanalysed,onlyfeltassomethingcorporealinitsbuffetingeffects.
