Ispottedthebottleinwhichthispreparationwaskept,andwhentheywereallgone,Ihelpedmyselftoalittleofit. Iwasafairlygooddispenser,soIworkedthisalkaloidintosmall,solublepills,andeachpillIputinaboxwithasimilarpillmadewithoutthepoison. IdeterminedatthetimethatwhenIhadmychance,mygentlemenshouldeachhaveadrawoutofoneoftheseboxes,whileIatethepillthatremained. Itwouldbequiteasdeadly,andagooddeallessnoisythanfiringacrossahandkerchief. FromthatdayIhadalwaysmypillboxesaboutwithme,andthetimehadnowcomewhenIwastousethem.
