Tobeclaimedasagood,thoughinanimproperstyle,isatleastbetterthanbeingrejectedasnogoodatall;andAnne,gladtobethoughtofsomeuse,gladtohaveanythingmarkedoutasaduty,andcertainlynotsorrytohavethesceneofitinthecountry,andherowndearcountry,readilyagreedtostay.
ThisinvitationofMary’sremovedallLadyRussell’sdifficulties,anditwasconsequentlysoonsettledthatAnneshouldnotgotoBathtillLadyRusselltookher,andthatalltheinterveningtimeshouldbedividedbetweenUppercrossCottageandKellynchLodge.
