"Here’salandscape!"thoughtLaurie,peepingthroughthebushes,andlookingwide-awakeandgood-naturedalready.
Itwasaratherprettylittlepicture,forthesisterssattogetherintheshadynook,withsunandshadowflickeringoverthem,thearomaticwindliftingtheirhairandcoolingtheirhotcheeks,andallthelittlewoodpeoplegoingonwiththeiraffairsasifthesewerenostrangersbutoldfriends.Megsatuponhercushion,sewingdaintilywithherwhitehands,andlookingasfreshandsweetasaroseinherpinkdressamongthegreen.Bethwassortingtheconesthatlaythickunderthehemlocknearby,forshemadeprettythingswiththem.
