ButaMoraviannobleman,whohappenedtobetravelingthisway,heardhowmatterswere,andbeingskilled—asmanypeopleareinhiscountry—insuchaffairs,heofferedtodeliverthevillagefromitstormentor.Hedidsothus:Therebeingabrightmoonthatnight,heascended,shortlyaftersunset,thetowersofthechapelhere,fromwhencehecoulddistinctlyseethechurchyardbeneathhim;youcanseeitfromthatwindow.Fromthispointhewatcheduntilhesawthevampirecomeoutofhisgrave,andplacenearitthelinenclothesinwhichhehadbeenfolded,andthenglideawaytowardsthevillagetoplagueitsinhabitants.
