Theyleapttotheirfeet,theyranfromthetable,andtheystoodpressedagainstthewall,huddledtogether,seekingthewarmthofoneanother’sbodiestogivethemcourage.
Welookeduponthemandwelaughedandsaid:
“Fearnothing,ourbrothers.Thereisagreatpowerinthesewires,butthispoweristamed.Itisyours.Wegiveittoyou.”
Stilltheywouldnotmove.
“Wegiveyouthepowerofthesky!”wecried.“Wegiveyouthekeytotheearth!Takeit,andletusbeoneofyou,thehumblestamongyou.Letusallworktogether,andharnessthispower,andmakeiteasethetoilofmen.Letusthrowawayourcandlesandourtorches.Letusfloodourcitieswithlight.Letusbringanewlighttomen!”
Buttheylookeduponus,andsuddenlywewereafraid.Fortheireyeswerestill,andsmall,andevil.
“Ourbrothers!”wecried.“Haveyounothingtosaytous?”
ThenCollective0-0009movedforward.Theymovedtothetableandtheothersfollowed.
“Yes,”spokeCollective0-0009,“wehavemuchtosaytoyou.”
