           SignorPastrinihadalreadysetaboutprocuringtheirdisguisesforthemorrow;andheassuredthemthattheywouldbeperfectlysatisfied.Thenextmorning,atnineo’clock,heenteredFranz’sroom,followedbyatailor,whohadeightortenRomanpeasantcostumesonhisarm;theyselectedtwoexactlyalike,andchargedthetailortosewoneachoftheirhatsabouttwentyyardsofribbon,andtoprocurethemtwoofthelongsilksashesofdifferentcolorswithwhichthelowerordersdecoratethemselvesonfete-days.Albertwasimpatienttoseehowhelookedinhisnewdressajacketandbreechesofbluevelvet,silkstockingswithclocks,shoeswithbuckles,andasilkwaistcoat.Thispicturesqueattiresethimofftogreatadvantage;andwhenhehadboundthescarfaroundhiswaist,andwhenhishat,placedcoquettishlyononeside,letfallonhisshoulderastreamofribbons,Franzwasforcedtoconfessthatcostumehasmuchtodowiththephysicalsuperiorityweaccordtocertainnations.TheTurksusedtobesopicturesquewiththeirlongandflowingrobes,butaretheynotnowhideouswiththeirbluefrocksbuttoneduptothechin,andtheirredcaps,whichmakethemlooklikeabottleofwinewitharedseal?FranzcomplimentedAlbert,wholookedathimselfintheglasswithanunequivocalsmileofsatisfaction.TheywerethusengagedwhentheCountofMonteCristoentered.
