Hismealbeingended,alordcameandheldbeforehimabroad,shallow,goldendishwithfragrantrosewaterinit,tocleansehismouthandfingerswith;andmylordtheHereditaryDiapererstoodbywithanapkinforhisuse.Tomgazedatthedishapuzzledmomentortwo,thenraisedittohislips,andgravelytookadraught.Thenhereturnedittothewaitinglord,andsaid—
"Nay,itlikesmenot,mylord:ithathaprettyflavour,butitwantethstrength."
Thisneweccentricityoftheprince’sruinedmindmadealltheheartsabouthimache;butthesadsightmovednonetomerriment.
