           "MyloveandmyFaith,"repliedyoungGoodmanBrown,"ofallnightsintheyear,thisonenightmustItarryawayfromthee.Myjourney,asthoucallestit,forthandbackagain,mustneedsbedone’twixtnowandsunrise.What,mysweet,prettywife,dostthoudoubtmealready,andwebutthreemonthsmarried?"

           "ThenGodblessyou!"saidFaith,withthepinkribbons;"andmayyoufindallwellwhenyoucomeback."

           "Amen!"criedGoodmanBrown."Saythyprayers,dearFaith,andgotobedatdusk,andnoharmwillcometothee."

           Sotheyparted;andtheyoungmanpursuedhiswayuntil,beingabouttoturnthecornerbythemeeting-house,helookedbackandsawtheheadofFaithstillpeepingafterhimwithamelancholyair,inspiteofherpinkribbons.
