TheScarecrowwelcomedthegirlwithacloseembrace,andhewouldhaveembracedEvring,too,inhisdelight.ButthelittlePrincewasshy,andshrankawayfromthepaintedScarecrowbecausehedidnotyetknowhismanyexcellentqualities.
Buttherewaslittletimeforthefriendstotalk,becausetheScarecrowmustnowenterthepalace.Dorothy’ssuccesshadgreatlyencouragedhim,andtheybothhopedhewouldmanagetomakeatleastonecorrectguess.
