Herhairseemedalmosttohavealifeofitsown,almostMedusa-like,thick,glossyandmoist,lyinginheavy,sweet-smellingmassesoverherforehead,overhersmallearswiththeirpinklobes,andfardownuponhernape.Deepinbetweenthecoilsandbraidsitwasofabitumenbrownness,butinthesunlightitvibratedwithasheenliketarnishedgold.
Likemostlargegirls,hermovementswerenothurried,andthisindefinitedeliberatenessofgesture,thisslowgrace,thiscertaineaseofattitude,wasacharmthatwasallherown.
