           Therewasacertaingenerousamplitudetothefull,roundcurvesofherhipsandshouldersthatsuggestedtheprecociousmaturityofahealthy,vigorousanimallifepassedunderthehotsouthernsunofahalf-tropicalcountry.Shewas,oneknewataglance,warm-blooded,full-blooded,withaneven,comfortablebalanceoftemperament.Herneckwasthick,andslopedtohershoulders,withfull,beautifulcurves,andunderherchinandunderherearsthefleshwasaswhiteandsmoothasflosssatin,shadingexquisitelytoafaintdelicatebrownonhernapeattherootsofherhair.Herthroatroundedtomeetherchinandcheek,withasoftswelloftheskin,tintedpaleamberintheshadows,butblendingbybarelyperceptiblegradationstothesweet,warmflushofhercheek.Thiscolouronhertempleswasjusttouchedwithacertainbluenesswherethefleshwasthinoverthefineveiningunderneath.Hereyeswerelightbrown,andsowideopenthatontheslightestprovocationthefulldiscofthepupilwasdisclosed;thelids—justafractionofashadedarkerthanthehueofherface—wereedgedwithlashesthatwerealmostblack.Whiletheselasheswerenotlong,theywerethickandrimmedhereyeswithafine,thinline.Hermouthwasratherlarge,thelipsshuttight,andnothingcouldhavebeenmoregraceful,morecharmingthantheoutlineofthesefulllipsofhers,andherroundwhitechin,modulatingdownwardwithacertaindeliciousroundnesstoherneck,herthroatandthesweetfeminineamplitudeofherbreast.
