           “Areyou,”heaskedher,“areyousounhappy,Hilma,thatyoucanlookforwardtonomorebrightnessinyourlife?”

           “UnlessIcouldforget—forgetmyhusband,”sheanswered,“howcanIbehappy?Iwouldratherbeunhappyinrememberinghimthanhappyinforgettinghim.Hewasmywholeworld,literallyandtruly.NothingseemedtocountbeforeIknewhim,andnothingcancountformenow,afterIhavelosthim.”

           “Youthinknow,”heanswered,“thatinbeinghappyagainyouwouldbedisloyaltohim.Butyouwillfindafterawhile—yearsfromnow—thatitneednotbeso.Thepartofyouthatbelongedtoyourhusbandcanalwayskeephimsacred,thatpartofyoubelongstohimandhetoit.
