           “Thedogstoppedbarking,andIheardagentletappingatthedoor,likethewindblowingalittlebranchagainstit.”

           “Justlikeher,”saidDiamond,whothoughteverythingstrangeandbeautifulmustbedonebyNorthWind.

           “SoIturnedfromthewindowandopenedthedoor;andwhatdoyouthinkIsaw?”

           “Abeautifullady,”saidDiamond.

           “No—themoonitself,asbigasalittlehouse,andasroundasaball,shininglikeyellowsilver.Itstoodonthegrass—downontheverygrass:Icouldseenothingelseforthebrightnessofit:AndasIstaredandwondered,adooropenedinthesideofit,neartheground,andacuriouslittleoldman,withacrookedthingoverhisshoulder,lookedout,andsaid:’Comealong,Nanny;myladywantsyou.We’recometofetchyou.”Iwasn’tabitfrightened.Iwentuptothebeautifulbrightthing,andtheoldmanhelddownhishand,andItookholdofit,andgaveajump,andhegavemealift,andIwasinsidethemoon.
