           Ashestoodthereherememberedhowthewindhaddrivenhimtothissamespotonthenightofhisdream.Andoncemorehewasalmostsurethatitwasnodream.Atallevents,hewouldgoinandseewhetherthingslookedatallnowastheydidthen.Heopenedthedoor,andpassedthroughthelittlebeltofshrubbery.Notaflowerwastobeseeninthebedsonthelawn.EventhebraveoldchrysanthemumsandChristmasroseshadpassedawaybeforethefrost.What?Yes!Therewasone!Heranandkneltdowntolookatit.

           Itwasaprimrose—adwarfishthing,butperfectinshape—ababy-wonder.Ashestoopedhisfacetoseeitclose,alittlewindbegantoblow,andtwoorthreelongleavesthatstoodupbehindtheflowershookandwavedandquivered,buttheprimroselaystillinthegreenhollow,lookingupatthesky,andnotseemingtoknowthatthewindwasblowingatall.Itwasjustaoneeyethatthedullblackwintryearthhadopenedtolookattheskywith.
