           Asitdrewnearer,hesawitwassheindeed—notdressedinwhiteasbefore:inapalebluelikethesky,shelookedlovelierstill.Hethoughtitwasthatthebluesuitedheryetbetterthanthewhite;hedidnotknowthatshewasreallymorebeautifulbecausethemoonwasnearerthefull.Infactthenextnightwasfullmoon,andtheprincesswouldthenbeatthezenithofherloveliness.

           Theprincefearedforsometimethatshewasnotcomingnearhishiding-placethatnight;butthecirclesinherdanceeverwidenedasthemoonrose,untilatlasttheyembracedthewholeglade,andshecamestillclosertothetreeswherehewashidingthanshehadcomethenightbefore.Hewasentrancedwithherloveliness,foritwasindeedamarvellousthing.Allnightlonghewatchedher,butdarednotgonearher.Hewouldhavebeenashamedofwatchinghertoo,hadhenotbecomealmostincapableofthinkingofanythingbuthowbeautifulshewas.Hewatchedthewholenightlong,andsawthatasthemoonwentdownsheretreatedinsmallerandsmallercircles,untilatlasthecouldseehernomore.

           Wearyashewas,hesetoutfortheoldwoman’scottage,wherehearrivedjustintimeforherbreakfast,whichshesharedwithhim.Hethenwenttobed,andsleptformanyhours.Whenheawokethesunwasdown,andhedepartedingreatanxietylestheshouldloseaglimpseofthelovelyvision.But,whetheritwasbythemachinationsoftheswamp-fairy,ormerelythatitisonethingtogoandanothertoreturnbythesameroad,helosthisway.
