           Asshegrewoldershebecamesuchafavourite,however,thataboutthepalacetherewerealwayssomewhowouldcontrivetokeepawakeatnight,inordertobenearher.Butshesoonbegantotakeeverychanceofgettingawayfromhernursesandenjoyinghermoonlightalone.Andthusthingswentonuntilshewasnearlyseventeenyearsofage.Herfatherandmotherhadbythattimegotsousedtotheoddstateofthingsthattheyhadceasedtowonderatthem.AlltheirarrangementshadreferencetothestateofthePrincessDaylight,anditisamazinghowthingscontrivetoaccommodatethemselves.Buthowanyprincewasevertofindanddeliverher,appearedinconceivable.

           Asshegrewoldershehadgrownmoreandmorebeautiful,withthesunniesthairandtheloveliesteyesofheavenlyblue,brilliantandprofoundastheskyofaJuneday.Butsomuchmorepainfulandsadwasthechangeasherbadtimecameon.Themorebeautifulshewasinthefullmoon,themorewitheredandworndidshebecomeasthemoonwaned.Atthetimeatwhichmystoryhasnowarrived,shelooked,whenthemoonwassmallorgone,likeanoldwomanexhaustedwithsuffering.Thiswasthemorepainfulthatherappearancewasunnatural;forherhairandeyesdidnotchange.Herwanfacewasbothdrawnandwrinkled,andhadaneagerhungrylook.Herskinnyhandsmovedasifwishing,butunable,tolayholdofsomething.Hershoulderswerebentforward,herchestwentin,andshestoopedasifshewereeightyyearsold.Atlastshehadtobeputtobed,andthereawaittheflowofthetideoflife.
