           Theywentsomepacesoff,asifitweretoconfertogether,walkingsidebyside,backwardandforward,likepersonsdeliberatinguponsomeaffairofweight,butoftenturningtheireyestowardsme,asitweretowatchthatImightnotescape.Iwasamazedtoseesuchactionsandbehaviourinbrutebeasts;andconcludedwithmyself,thatiftheinhabitantsofthiscountrywereenduedwithaproportionabledegreeofreason,theymustneedsbethewisestpeopleuponearth.Thisthoughtgavemesomuchcomfort,thatIresolvedtogoforward,untilIcoulddiscoversomehouseorvillage,ormeetwithanyofthenatives,leavingthetwohorsestodiscoursetogetherastheypleased.Butthefirst,whowasadapplegray,observingmetostealoff,neighedaftermeinsoexpressiveatone,thatIfanciedmyselftounderstandwhathemeant;whereuponIturnedback,andcameneartohimtoexpecthisfarthercommands:butconcealingmyfearasmuchasIcould,forIbegantobeinsomepainhowthisadventuremightterminate;andthereaderwilleasilybelieveIdidnotmuchlikemypresentsituation.
