           “Youwereimposedon,ma’am,”repliedDr.Grant:“thesepotatoeshaveasmuchtheflavourofaMoorParkapricotasthefruitfromthattree.Itisaninsipidfruitatthebest;butagoodapricotiseatable,whichnonefrommygardenare.”

           “Thetruthis,ma’am,”saidMrs.Grant,pretendingtowhisperacrossthetabletoMrs.Norris,“thatDr.Granthardlyknowswhatthenaturaltasteofourapricotis:heisscarcelyeverindulgedwithone,foritissovaluableafruit;withalittleassistance,andoursissucharemarkablylarge,fairsort,thatwhatwithearlytartsandpreserves,mycookcontrivestogetthemall.”
