           Maria,withonlyMr.Rushworthtoattendtoher,anddoomedtotherepeateddetailsofhisday’ssport,goodorbad,hisboastofhisdogs,hisjealousyofhisneighbours,hisdoubtsoftheirqualifications,andhiszealafterpoachers,subjectswhichwillnotfindtheirwaytofemalefeelingswithoutsometalentononesideorsomeattachmentontheother,hadmissedMr.Crawfordgrievously;andJulia,unengagedandunemployed,feltalltherightofmissinghimmuchmore.Eachsisterbelievedherselfthefavourite.JuliamightbejustifiedinsodoingbythehintsofMrs.Grant,inclinedtocreditwhatshewished,andMariabythehintsofMr.Crawfordhimself.
