           Thesequesteredsituationofthischurchseemsalwaystohavemadeitafavoritehauntoftroubledspirits.Itstandsonaknoll,surroundedbylocust-treesandloftyelms,fromamongwhichitsdecent,whitewashedwallsshinemodestlyforth,likeChristianpuritybeamingthroughtheshadesofretirement.Agentleslopedescendsfromittoasilversheetofwater,borderedbyhightrees,betweenwhich,peepsmaybecaughtatthebluehillsoftheHudson.Tolookuponitsgrass-grownyard,wherethesunbeamsseemtosleepsoquietly,onewouldthinkthatthereatleastthedeadmightrestinpeace.
