           ButElinor—howareHERfeelingstobedescribed?—FromthemomentoflearningthatLucywasmarriedtoanother,thatEdwardwasfree,tothemomentofhisjustifyingthehopeswhichhadsoinstantlyfollowed,shewaseverythingbyturnsbuttranquil.Butwhenthesecondmomenthadpassed,whenshefoundeverydoubt,everysolicituderemoved,comparedhersituationwithwhatsolatelyithadbeen,—sawhimhonourablyreleasedfromhisformerengagement,sawhiminstantlyprofitingbytherelease,toaddressherselfanddeclareanaffectionastender,asconstantasshehadeversupposedittobe,—shewasoppressed,shewasovercomebyherownfelicity;—andhappilydisposedasisthehumanmindtobeeasilyfamiliarizedwithanychangeforthebetter,itrequiredseveralhourstogivesedatenesstoherspirits,oranydegreeoftranquillitytoherheart.
