           Thefirstpartoftheirjourneywasperformedintoomelancholyadispositiontobeotherwisethantediousandunpleasant.Butastheydrewtowardstheendofit,theirinterestintheappearanceofacountrywhichtheyweretoinhabitovercametheirdejection,andaviewofBartonValleyastheyentereditgavethemcheerfulness.Itwasapleasantfertilespot,wellwooded,andrichinpasture.Afterwindingalongitformorethanamile,theyreachedtheirownhouse.Asmallgreencourtwasthewholeofitsdemesneinfront;andaneatwicketgateadmittedthemintoit.
