           Johnsaidthatiftheworstcametotheworst,alltheyhadtodowastogostraighton,fortheworldwasround,andsointimetheymustcomebacktotheirownwindow.

           ’Andwhoistogetfoodforus,John?’

           ’Inippedabitoutofthateagle’smouthprettyneatly,Wendy.’

           ’Afterthetwentiethtry,’Wendyremindedhim.’Andeventhoughwebecamegoodatpickingupfood,seehowwebumpagainstcloudsandthingsifheisnotneartogiveusahand.’

           Indeedtheywereconstantlybumping.Theycouldnowflystrongly,thoughtheystillkickedfartoomuch;butiftheysawacloudinfrontofthem,themoretheytriedtoavoidit,themorecertainlydidtheybumpintoit.IfNanahadbeenwiththem,shewouldhavehadabandageroundMichael’sforeheadbythistime.

           Peterwasnotwiththemforthemoment,andtheyfeltratherlonelyuptherebythemselves.Hecouldgosomuchfasterthantheythathewouldsuddenlyshootoutofsight,tohavesomeadventureinwhichtheyhadnoshare.Hewouldcomedownlaughingoversomethingfearfullyfunnyhehadbeensayingtoastar,buthehadalreadyforgottenwhatitwas,orhewouldcomeupwithmermaidscalesstillstickingtohim,andyetnotbeabletosayforcertainwhathadbeenhappening.Itwasreallyratherirritatingtochildrenwhohadneverseenamermaid.
