Wechoseastilleasierjumpanddiditwithoutdifficulty,andthenleaptbackagain,andtoandfroseveraltimes,accustomingourmusclestothenewstandard.IcouldneverhavebelievedhadInotexperiencedit,howrapidthatadaptationwouldbe.Inaverylittletimeindeed,certainlyafterfewerthanthirtyleaps,wecouldjudgetheeffortnecessaryforadistancewithalmostterrestrialassurance.
Andallthistimethelunarplantsweregrowingaroundus,higheranddenserandmoreentangled,everymomentthickerandtaller,spikedplants,greencactusmasses,fungi,fleshyandlichenousthings,strangestradiateandsinuousshapes.
