           ‘Buthearken,missus,hearken,’saidStephen,astonished.‘’Tisn’tMr.Bounderby;’tishiswife.Yo’rnotfearfo’o’her.Yowashey-go-madabouther,butanhoursin.’

           Rachaelhadrisen,andstoodapartwithhershawlandbonnetinherhand,whenStephen,himselfprofoundlyastonishedbythisvisit,putthecandleonthetable.
