           TheprizeoftheGeographicalSocietyofParis,thegrandmedaloftheLondonGeographicalSociety,andbrilliantreceptionsgreetedtheillustrioustraveler.Anotherwould,perhaps,havethoughtthatreposewaswellearned.Thedoctordidnotthinkso,anddepartedonthe1stofMarch,1858,accompaniedbyhisbrotherCharles,CaptainBedinfield,theDrs.KirkandMeller,andbyMessrs.ThorntonandBaines.HearrivedinMayonthecoastofMozambique,havingforanobjecttheexplorationofthebasinoftheZambezi.

           Allwouldnotreturnfromthisvoyage.Alittlesteamer,the"MyRobert,"enabledtheexplorerstoascendthegreatriverbytheRongone.
